Nancy and David Wood started Salt Spring Island Cheese Company in 1996. Although our first cheeses were made from sheep milk, most of the cheeses we make now are goats milk; all the sheep milk is reserved for Montaña. What keeps us going is the desire to make the highest quality cheese we know how, in as socially and environmentally responsible a manner as possible.
